This exceptional tall case clock was executed by the Herschede Clock Company in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1911. This outstanding clock is beautifully caved out of mahogany. There are men magnificently carved at he corners. The bonnet is ornately carved and has an elegantly detailed crest at the top. The door and sides are ornately detailed with delicately designed carvings. The face has a moon dial and is stamped Bailey, Banks and Biddle which is the retail store that the clock was sold to in 1911. The movement is stamped #24. The movement was made the first year Herschede began manufacturing there own movements. This clock has the 24th movement that Herschede made. This clock is fitted with 9 tubular bells and plays Westminster and Whittington chimes. The Crown Hall clock was awarded two gold and one silver medal at the St. Louis Worlds Fair for superiority for clock case construction, finish and design and for the perfection of movements and tubular bells. We contacted the Clock Museum in Connecticut and they have a record of the clock being shipped from the Herschede Clock Company in Cincinnati Ohio to the Bailey, Banks and Biddle shop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 14, 1911. We have a copy of the original Herschede catalog this clock was purchased from. This tall case clock is museum quality and is in excellent original condition. An American Masterpiece!
